The Mockingbird is fascinating. I don't know anyone who has had a bad meal here, but you almost have to go into it with a sense of adventure. You can book through OpenTable, but they don't tell you what the menu will be. They have Taco Tuesday and Wok Wednesday, which would be fine if you know that's what you're getting. But it doesn't tell you they have a special menu on those days, and you can't see the menu at all unless they're open (I suspect due to how their ordering software works). For the record, this is my saga of trying the Mockingbird: First attempt was on a Wednesday, and why I wish they would publish these things on their website outside of business hours. Second attempt I got sick, unrelated, and forgot I had a reservation. Third attempt their oven was being replaced. Fourth attempt I was seated, had a great meal, and can't wait to go back! Maybe for brunch.... The menu does change frequently, but the soup was delicious and unique. Unique in a "I don't think I could find this anywhere else and that's sad" way. The Farmers Cobb salad had a full distribution of ingredients, and was so well plated. The fries were well cooked with a great crisp. There is plenty of parking, and outdoor dining in back and front. It's a very homey ambiance, and super clean.

Absolutely loved the food. Do not miss the dumplings! Or the lobster roll! Or the amazing homemade bread!!! Plan on the service being slow, but it's worth the wait.

This place is a gem. In a remodeled old restaurant, chef and owner Sam Tilley has created a place of fun with a zen vibe and cocktails and food of the highest quality. The servers are skilled and welcoming, the bar buzzes on some nights, and is a tranquil haven at others. Tables can be near the fire in the Winter, or outside in warm weather. Sam is growing food in her own garden which she proudly shows visitors. Aside from Taco Tuesdays (try to get a table, the rest of the week features a changing menu according to what's fresh and what creative idea has occurred to Sam So yeah, just go, ok?

Ate there last night, were seated at what was called "the kissing table"! A quiet little nook in the front corner of the restaurant. We each had one of their special IPA's, which were a great start to the meal. We shared the house salad as an appetizer and it was great. My partner had the halibut special and I had the chicken Milanese. Both were fantastic! The service was spectacular. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Mockingbird Kitchen and Bar is by far one of the best places to have dinner in Litchfield County. The service is warm, helpful and attentive. Great care is taken in food preparation and the atmosphere is lovely. Not to mention a beautiful bar. Just consistently excellent.

Mockingbird has become my very favorite restaurant in Litchfield and I am pretty picky! Sam's (The Chef and owner) food just tastes like love to me, it's so comforting and approachable but also super complex and flavorful! That's also how I feel about the overall vibe of the restaurant. It's beautiful and so much attention to detail, without an ounce of pretentiousness. I feel equally happy eating here with my husband on a date as I do bringing my small children. If the service is a bit slow, because of Covid and being short staffed, I say all the better. It allows you more time to decompress and relax in this comfortable environment and really enjoy everything slowly. We are in such a hurry these days and going out to eat should be exempt from that. The wait staff is incredibly kind and friendly and I always feel tended to. Last night I got the homemade pasta dish and I seriously went to heaven, I closed my eyes and felt the love in the food as it went into my body. I would recommend coming here over all the restaurants in town! Prices are not crazy and the food is so beyond this world!

Mockingbird is delightful. A bit of NYC and SF in Litchfield. As soon as you enter you are transported to a quant, cheerful place where you are greeted by the chef. The food is unexpectedly tasty, inspired from all over the world. I had charred Caesar salad, tamari glazed salmon, and the most outstanding carrot cake. I highly recommend coming here and trying the assortment of specialties.
